The health benefits of fresh flowers
The tradition of giving flowers dates back to the Ancient Greeks when people would give floral gifts as offerings in temples. Over time the tradition extended to giving flowers to loved ones and family members.
And while giving flowers certainly makes us feel good, did you know that having fresh flowers in your home can actually benefit your health?
A Harvard study by Nancy Etcoff in 2006 noted that participants who had placed flowers around their homes in locations where they could be seen on a day-to-day basis experienced a noticeable increase in their mood as well as higher compassion towards other people.
Another study found flowers could even lower blood pressure, reduce feelings of pain and anxiety as well as help with fatigue. WOW!
Beautiful fresh blooms can also benefit your work or study space by helping to de-stress and heighten cognitive function!
So now you have no excuse to treat yourself to those beautiful season blooms you enjoy.
